Who we are
This website is run by STROS Consulting Limited, which trades as STROS and STROS Partnerships. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 12214146, with our registered office at 18 Wesley Street, Castleford, West Yorkshire WF10 1AE. As the controller of the personal data described on this page, we can be reached about any of it at ross@stros.co.uk.
What we collect
The site has no forms, accounts or sign-ups, so it asks you for nothing. Personal data reaches us in two ways.
- When you email us. We receive your name, your email address and whatever you tell us. We use it to reply and to keep a record of the conversation, because you have asked us something and a reply is in both our interests. We keep it for as long as the conversation or relationship continues and delete it when it stops being useful.
- When you visit, if you accept cookies. Google Analytics tells us which pages are read, how people arrived, roughly where they are (country and city, worked out from the IP address) and what kind of device and browser they use. It does not tell us who you are and we do not try to find out. Our legal basis is your consent.
- When you visit, if you accept cookies. The LinkedIn Insight Tag tells LinkedIn which pages you visit here. If you use LinkedIn, it lets us show STROS ads to you there and see which of our ads led people to the site. LinkedIn shows us totals only, such as job titles, industries and company sizes across all our visitors, and never tells us who you are. Our legal basis is your consent.
Our hosting provider, Netlify, processes each request to deliver the site and keeps routine technical logs for security.
Cookies
Nothing is set until you choose. If you reject, no cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google or LinkedIn. If you accept, Google Analytics sets these two cookies:
| Cookie | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Gives each browser a random ID, so we can count visitors rather than page loads | 2 years |
| _ga_D646B19LF0 | Groups the pages you view in one visit together | 2 years |
LinkedIn sets these cookies, most of them on its own domain, linkedin.com:
| Cookie | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| li_sugr | Gives your browser an ID, so LinkedIn can recognise visits from people who aren't signed in | 90 days |
| bcookie | LinkedIn's browser ID | 1 year |
| li_fat_id | Links a visit to a LinkedIn ad click, so we can see which ads worked | 30 days |
| li_giant | Links a visit to a group of LinkedIn members, so we can count which ads worked | 7 days |
| lms_ads | Recognises LinkedIn members on other websites, for advertising | 30 days |
| lms_analytics | Recognises LinkedIn members on other websites, for analytics | 30 days |
| UserMatchHistory | Matches your browser to LinkedIn's records for ad targeting | 30 days |
| AnalyticsSyncHistory | Records when that matching last happened | 30 days |
| lidc | Sends your browser to the right LinkedIn data centre | 24 hours |
Google keeps the data for 14 months. We have switched off Google's advertising features and signals for this site. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage under the name stros-consent-2, which holds only the word accepted or rejected and is not a cookie. LinkedIn keeps the data from the Insight Tag for up to 180 days.
You can change your mind at any time with , here or in the footer of any page. Rejecting after you have accepted deletes the Google Analytics cookies and any LinkedIn cookies set on this site from your browser. LinkedIn's cookies on linkedin.com can only be cleared in your browser settings or in your LinkedIn ad settings.
Who else sees it
Google runs Google Analytics on our behalf and may process data outside the UK, including in the United States, under the safeguards it provides for those transfers. LinkedIn runs the Insight Tag and may also process data outside the UK, including in the United States, under the safeguards it provides. Netlify hosts the site. We do not sell personal data, and the only advertising we use it for is showing STROS ads on LinkedIn to people who accepted cookies.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict it or stop using it. Where we rely on your consent you can withdraw it at any time, as described above. Email ross@stros.co.uk and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
If what we collect changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
